Personally, I use Linkedin, Google, Facebook, and Twitter to develop my professional network. And those are commonly used for professional network developing. Companies also let their employees use their privately designed apps to participate in job events.
While expanding professional network, first of all, risks can not be ignored. Even though professional network would give less essential information than personal network, it is still possible to be used to do illegal or dangerous businesses. Making your digital identity unique ,formal , and professional would definitely help expanding it. Then use the algorithm wisely can support expanding professional network as well.
Data privacy and security will restrict PLN , when people are expanding their network, data privacy and security must be considered more or less because less information exposed would result in one’s profile being seen less. However, sometimes Data privacy could promote PLNS as well. The network you established would be more professional and safe.
Digital identity is who you are on the internet , We can create it by saying what jobs we have, what roles we are, what are our hobbies and so on. Also, digital identity can be identified through your daily activities on the platform. For example, posts from instagram shows what you are interested in, how you are living your life, and what personalities you have.
When creating a digital identity, no matter if it is professional or personal. it will introduce yourself virtually on the internet. Employer would respond differently based on if one’s network is private or professional. If an employer accessed your professional profile such as Linkedin, they would respond due to the job experiences, diploma, and contributions.
